Appearence	: Nearly white crystalline powder
Solubility	: Very slightly soluble in water and 95% ethyl alcohol.   Dissolves in aqueous alkalies and in alcohol containing hydrochloric acid.
Optical Rotation	: {D }27 + 18.5o   Measured in alcoholic solution containing hydrochloric acid.

Assay:

1. By Iodine content estimation : 100% (I.P. Method)

2. H.P.L.C Method : 99.5% (BP/USP)
